Today I held my breath for 10 minutes! I want to share how I did it to help other Freedivers to progress.
I did about 100 days of training. 1 or 2 days off per week. 30ish days of high volume training at low intensity and all dry. For example: 10x breath hold up to 1st contraction only, with 2 minutes interval. My 1st contraction went from 4ish to 6ish at the end of this month.
The next 30ish days I did hardcore co2/o2 tables all in the pool. For example: 4min hold, 60s rest, 4.30,60s,5.00,60s etc…Up to 7.30min. I also did 5 to 10x big breath hold with 60s interval. I started with 5 to 10x 6min and ended the month with 5 to 10, 7.30min.
The last 30ish days I did fake max attempt x3 each session with 6min interval. I started at 7.30min and increase by only 10s every 3 sessions for a smooth mental adaptation. I also did some intense co2 and 02 drills. For example: 3.30min x5 with 1 breath interval for the co2. Empty lung max x6 with 2 min intervals for the 02.
Over all the training took me 1 hour ish per day. I also did some cardio, weight lifting, stretching, mental exercises and dieting which I will explain in the next posts. This approach had amazing results for me, you can modify the numbers according to your own level and try it.
